RULES
1.00 Affiliation and classification
1.01 The Gaspesian Midget Tournament is sanctioned by Hockey Québec and Hockey Canada and only affiliated teams may take part.
1.02 The tournament includes midget (18) UCC and midget (U18) A categories and only those teams or the equivalent will be accepted.
1.03 Teams are assured a minimum of three (3) games.
2.00 Required documents
- A completed tournament registration form,
- The team's registration form including the names of all players and staff.
- Your cheque for the registration fee of four hundred ($ 400,00) dollars.
- A travel permit from the section or associiation which the team belongs to.
- A proof of age (health insurance card or other) for all players (upon demand).
3.00 Games
3.01 Before each game, each player must sign the signature sheet provided by the tournament.
3.02 All games in the preliminary round will consist of a five (5) minute warm up, followed by three (3) twelve (12) minute (stop time) periods. The ice will be resurfaced every two (2) periods of play. When the ice is not resurfaced, there will a two (2) minute intermission between periods.
3.03 The final in each category will consist of three (3) fifteen (15) minute periods (stop time). The ice will be resurfaced after each period.
3.04 In the preliminary round, there will be no overtime in case of a tie. Two (2) points will be awarded for a win, one (1) for a tie and none (0) for a loss (plus Fair Play points, if applicable).
3.05 Home teams in the preliminary round are predetermined. In playoff rounds, home teams as well as the match ups will be determined by standings.
3.06 In case of a difference of seven (7) goals after the second period, the remainder of the game will be played straight time, even if the difference becomes less. If both teams agree, or if decided by the tournament committee, the game may be stopped.
3.07 A thirty (30) second time out is allowed each team, in each game. (except during straight time (Hockey Quebec rule 3.07).
3.08 Tie breaker If two (2) or more teams are ties in the standings, tall teams concerned will be subject to the following tie-breaking rules.
The position of qualifying teams will be determined according to the following criteria, in order, until a winner is established.
A. The most points.
B. The greatest number of wins.
C. The result of the match (s) between the teams in question (wins).Note 1: Applies only if all teams involved played against each other in the same section in the round robin.
D. The best plus/minus differential : total goals for, less total goals against, of all games played.
Note 2: If a team is not present for a match, the number of points for and against matches played against it by the other teams must not be considered in the calculation.
E. The team having scored the earliest goal in all games played.
Note 3: In the case of a team that does not show up for a match, all games played against it by the other teams must not be considered.
F. The team having the most Fair-Play points.
G. Coin toss.
3.09 In case of a tie in playoff games (except the semi-finals and finals in each division), there will be a five (5) minute overtime period played with each team having four (4) skaters plus a goalie, with the first goal ending the game. If the game is still tied after this five (5) minute overtime period, the “shoot-out” procedure shall apply as described in Article 10.7.2.3.10 During semi-final and final games of any Hockey Quebec sanctioned tournament, should the score be tied after regulation time after ‘Fair Play’ points have been tallied, there shall be overtime as follows:
A. There shall be a single overtime period lasting 10 minutes with stopped time. A line-up of 4 skaters and 1 goalkeeper will be used by each team except when penalties must be served in accordance with playing rules or for the application of ‘Fair Play’ regulations. The first goal legally scored ends the game
B. If the game remains tied after this five (5) minute overtime period, the “shoot-out” procedure shall apply as described in Article 10.7.2.
4.00 Game rules
4.01 Hockey Québec rules will be applied.
4.02 Players must wait until the ice surfacer's doors are closed and the officials are on the ice before going onto the ice. Teams at fault will be assessed a two minute minor penalty.
4.03 At the discretion of the referee, a ten (10) minute misconduct penalty will be assessed along with any other applicable penalties, to player(s) judged to be the instigators or attempting to instigate a fight or an altercation after the whistle.
4.04 McDonald's Fair Play rules will be applied for all games.
5.00 Miscellaneous
5.01 Any player or team member displaying prejudicial conduct will be expelled from the tournament.
5.02 Teams are responsible for any damage caused by one of it's members to the installations or equipment used by the tournament.
5.03 The organizing committee reserves the right to decide on matters not covered by the present document, and to add, remove or modify any rule it deems necessary. Teams will be notified in writing. All decisions taken by the committee are final and without appeal.
5.04 All games will be viewed by an off-ice official appointed by the tournament and Hockey Gaspésie-the-Islands, and any infractions which warrants suspension or other disciplinary measures will be punsished even if no penalty was given.
5.05 The organizing committee, with the participation of the Hockey Gaspésie-les-Îles represenatative, reserves the right to add, change or remove any rule judged necessary to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.
